I was trying Microsoft’s Phi 3 open source model out on my food diary when out of no where it said we should try calling it envirobot and integrating a bunch of environmental impact evaluations into my food diary.
And it kept doing it even after I asked it to stop. I’m as concerned about the environment as the next person but I don’t want it integrated into the tools I am building unless I ask it to, and especially not after I have told it not to.
I think this is a good example of the importance of being able to swap out the intelligences we use in our digital brains which is not possible when using many of the corporate owned digital brains like ChatGPT.
